Wilfried Zaha offered new deal by Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have offered Wilfried Zaha a new bumper contract as they look to fend off competition from several European heavyweights, according to the Guardian.

Zaha is in the final few months of his current deal at Selhurst Park and could leave as a free agent after spending most of his career with the Eagles.

Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma and Bayern Munich have all been linked with a Bosman swoop for the Ivorian next summer, while Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Marseille reportedly hold an interest.

Despite previously talking up a move away from the club, Palace are not giving up hope yet on retaining the services of their talisman as confirmed by manager Roy Hodgson.

“With my interest in the club and my admiration for Wilf Zaha, I would like him to stay,” Hodgson said, as relayed as football.london.

“I would hope, from the club’s point of view, that he accepts the offer on the table and decides his future lies here.”

The South Londoners have offered Zaha a four-year contract worth in the region of £200,000 a week, which would make him the highest-paid player in their history.

However, Zaha wants his current employers to show more ambition on and off the pitch before deciding whether to commit his long-term future.

Having missed the last three games due to a groin injury, Zaha is expected to resume first-team training in the coming days as he looks to help his side continue their recent upturn in form.

An impressive tally of 10 points from the last 12 available has seen the Eagles move nine points clear of the drop zone, and a top-half place is now on the cards heading into the final stretch of the current season.

Next up for Palace is a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where they will be looking to make it four wins from five Premier League matches.
