Man Utd attacker Alejandro Garnacho relishing return to action after lengthy injury

Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho has been out with an ankle injury he sustained against Southampton in March.

However, the 18-year-old is back in training after his spell on the sidelines.

Garnacho could be in the squad for United’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

He said (via Man United’s official website): “I am really keen to get back playing once again.

“I cannot wait to get back to Old Trafford and hear the fans chanting my name. It really gives me goosebumps. I am desperate to be back playing.

“I am back in training again. So let us see when I can be back in the stadium helping the team.”

Garnacho helped United win the League Cup as the club lifted its first trophy in six years. The Argentine winger loved that feeling and wants more of it.

United are still fighting for a place in the Premier League top four. They face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

“Nobody in their life would ever have imagined me, at just 18 years old, already winning a trophy with this club, Manchester United, having helped them to achieve that as part of the team,” he added.

“This really motivates me to want to win more things. I am very ambitious and will not settle for winning one trophy.

“This season, we’ve still got one trophy to play for, and we will be battling for it as hard as we can.

“Also, we have the target of getting into the Champions League. With my ambition and will to win, I feel even extra motivated.”

Garnacho has made 31 appearances for the club this season. He made his name in the United’s academy after leading them to last season’s Youth FA Cup title.

He has bagged four goals and five assists this term for the senior side and produced some clutch moments in the dying minutes for United.

His impressive performances led to a call-up to the Argentine national team, but injury prevented him from honouring it.

Garnacho will be keen to continue developing with the first team after an excellent debut senior campaign.
