Milan plot double Premier League swoop for Walker and Keita

AC Milan are plotting a double summer raid on the Premier League as they eye moves for Manchester City defender Kyle Walker and Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Rossoneri are keen to reinforce their squad ahead of next season following an appalling Scudetto defence, and both Walker and Keita represent low-cost options they could explore.

Walker’s contract with Man City expires in 2024, and with no talks of an extended deal on the horizon, the Cityzens could sanction a sale this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

The Englishman has been a staple of the Premier League champions for the better part of the last six years, enjoying a trophy-laden spell in Manchester.

However, his importance to the team has reduced this season, with the former Tottenham Hotspur defender starting 16 of his 20 league appearances this term.

Pep Guardiola’s penchant for tweaking his system and structure has also caught up with Walker, who has been warming the bench since the Spaniard switched to an unorthodox 3-2-4-1 setup.

The 32-year-old could end his trophy-laden association with the Cityzens this summer, and Milan could be on hand to swoop in for his signature.

Liverpool’s Keita is also an option for the Scudetto champions, with the 28-year-old poised to leave Merseyside when his contract runs out in the summer.

The Guinea international could be the second Liverpool player to join Milan after Divock Origi, but the Rossoneri are unsure about sanctioning a move seeing how the Belgian’s deal panned out.

He joined the Italian giants last summer with the club keen to provide competition for Olivier Giroud but has bagged just two goals and an assist in 23 league games.

The Serie A club are already looking to sell the former VfL Wolfsburg man to raise funds for their planned summer reinforcement.

Keita has struggled for game time this season, making just 13 appearances across all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and his injury record could also scupper a potential move to Milan.
