Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has tipped Manchester City to win the treble this season ahead of their crucial top-of-the-table meeting with Arsenal.
The title rivals are set to collide at the Etihad Stadium in Wednesday’s showpiece event, with the clash likely to decide which way the Premier League crown swings this season.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners sit top of the Premier League with five points separating them from Man City, who have played two fewer games.
Pep Guardiola’s side have already secured a place in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, where they will face local rivals Manchester United.
The Cityzens have also set up a Champions League semi-final date with reigning champions Real Madrid, having swatted aside Bayern Munich in the previous round.
Beating Arsenal on home turf will see Man City strengthen their chances of defending their Premier League crown in a potentially trophy-laden season.
Their performances have seen Premier League Hall of Fame nominee Owen tip the scales in their favour saying they have all the momentum heading into the mouth-watering midweek showdown.
“It’s all pointing in the direction of Manchester City at the moment,” Owen said (via Football Daily).
“Arsenal have been brilliant, but the Champions League looks like Manchester City are flying along – the FA Cup – it looks like they could win that.
“We could be looking at Manchester City winning the big treble this season, and I certainly wouldn’t bet against it.”
Arsenal’s form this season has been excellent, but they have faltered in their last three consecutive games, posting draws against Liverpool, West Ham United and Southampton.
They will be keen to return to winning ways, and picking up maximum points at the home of the champions could be monumental in realising their ambitions.
