Barcelona set €25m price tag for Ferran Torres as they look to garner interest

Barcelona have set a meagre €25 million price tag on attacker Ferran Torres as they look to sell him this summer, according to Javier Miguel.

The Catalans are desperately trying to free up funds to be able to sign and register new players.

They plan on selling some fringe players, and Torres is on the list after failing to establish himself.

The Spain international has struggled since his €55 million move from Manchester City in January 2022.

Barcelona gave Torres a five-year contract with a €1 billion release clause thinking he would explode back home in Spain.

He has failed to nail down a starting spot on the left, through the centre or in his favoured right-wing position.

The 23-year-old showed promising signs during his first six months in Barcelona, bagging four goals and four assists in 18 La Liga appearances.

However, he came into this season with confidence issues. Torres has scored four goals this term but has missed seven big chances.

Barcelona have decided to let him go this summer. They are preparing for the return of Lionel Messi and need all the funds they can free up.

It does not help that Torres has refused to take a pay cut to help Barca save money. The club has asked players to take cuts and deferrals, but Torres has refused.

Barca president Joan Laporta is still planning more cuts. He wants to ask all the players to help with their financial situation.

They will combine this strategy with player sales to generate funds this summer.

Barca are considering selling Raphinha, while Ansu Fati’s future remains unclear.

The club must register Gavi, or he will leave for free. They also need a right-back, a midfielder and an understudy for Robert Lewandowski.
