Carlo Ancelotti: ‘Benzema thinking about the Pichichi? I don’t care about the prize’

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that he has no problems with star striker Karim Benzema following their win over Celta Vigo.

The Italian manager substituted Benzema early against Chelsea in their Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge.

However, the striker didn’t look happy with his manager’s decision in London. The coach explained yesterday that he spoke to the player.

Ancelotti said Benzema sustained a knock, and he had to take him off.

The former AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain manager faced questions about Benzema again today..

Ancelotti said (via AS): “Karim is fine. When I look at it, he is a very important player. Benzema thinking about the Pichichi?

“I don’t know what he thinks about, and I don’t care about the prize. I care if Real Madrid win games.”

Madrid beat Celta 2-0 to move within eight points of league-leaders Barcelona. The Catalans have a game in hand against Atletico Madrid today.

Ancelotti praised his side’s performance, singling out Eduardo Camavinga for his imperious performance at left-back.

He also praised Marco Asensio, who is in spectacular form. The Spaniard has scored in four consecutive games.

Despite having Benzema, Vinicius, Federico Valverde, Rodrygo and Asensio in double figures, the manager was more effusive in his praise for his defenders keeping clean sheets in their last four games.

Ancelotti hailed Nacho Fernandez for his ability to contribute in different positions.

The 63-year-old manager confirmed he would rotate his side ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash with Manchester City.
