West Brom striker Daryl Dike to be sidelined for six to nine months after Achilles rupture

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that Daryl Dike could be out for up to nine months.

The United States international striker was stretchered off during the Baggies’ 2-1 victory over Stoke City on Saturday.

Dike landed awkwardly just before half-time and scans have shown he suffered an Achilles tendon injury.

The 22-year-old will go under the knife and undergo rehabilitation to return to fitness later this year.

West Brom are 11th in the Championship with five games remaining.

They are three points off the play-off places and will be keen to finish the campaign strongly.

However, the Baggies must do so without Dike, who has bagged seven goals in 23 league games.

West Brom have won just one of their last five Championship games, suffering a dip in form at a crucial point.

Carlos Corberan’s side still have a chance of sealing Premier League promotion through the play-offs.

However, they may need to pick up nine to ten points from the remaining 15 points to finish in the top six.

Dike will be gutted having been unlucky with fitness in the past.

An injury-plagued 2022 saw him miss out on the World Cup in Qatar, and he only earned a recall to the United States squad last month for the first time since 2021.

The West Brom man will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League and the CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer.
