Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand attracting Premier League interest

Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand is attracting interest from the Premier League, according to Relevo.

The Frenchman has established himself as one of the finest defenders in La Liga, having come through the youth ranks at Sociedad.

Le Normand has racked up 34 appearances across all competitions this season, and his impressive displays could soon see him plying his trade in the English top flight.

He played a pivotal role in Sociedad’s run to the Europa League round of 16, where they were eliminated by Serie A giants AS Roma.

Although the English clubs weighing up a summer move for the Frenchman are unnamed, it is understood that the player was a target for Arsenal in the January market.

However, the Gunners completed a €25 million deal to sign Polish defender Jakub Kiwior from Serie A side Spezia in the winter market so it is unlikely they will return for Le Normand’s services this summer.

Despite the defender attracting interest, Sociedad are under no pressure to sell, with the player’s contract set to run until 2026.

Le Normand also has a €50m release clause in his contract which Sociedad consider non-negotiable and will reportedly demand from any interested parties this summer.

Despite standing firm on their valuation of the player, Sociedad are reportedly braced for a summer raid and have earmarked 22-year-old Jon Pacheco as his possible replacement.

Le Normand is proving to be a core part of a Sociedad team firmly in the running for a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Basque club are embroiled in a three-way race to earn a spot in Europe’s most prestigious tournament.

They sit fourth on the La Liga standings, three points ahead of rivals Real Betis in fifth and four above sixth-placed Villarreal.
