Sergi Roberto at risk of missing the rest of the season with hamstring injury

Barcelona’s injury list keeps growing with Sergi Roberto becoming the latest casualty after being withdrawn early in the game against Getafe on Sunday.

Diario AS reports that the Spaniard has torn his left hamstring, and he could be sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Roberto’s absence will deplete the options at the right-back, and Xavi will have to again rely on Ronald Araujo as a make-shift option.

Jules Kounde can also play as a full-back, while Xavi has a trump card in Julian Araujo.

The Mexican right-back arrived at Camp Nou from LA Galaxy in February but hasn’t featured for the first team, spending time with the reserves.

However, recent reports suggest that Barca are happy with Araujo’s progress and efforts in training.

Roberto’s injury means that Araujo has an excellent opportunity to be in the frame for first-team action, with only nine games left this season.

Barca are reportedly on the verge of welcoming back midfield duo Frenkie de Jong and Pedri to the squad after injuries, which will be a massive boost for them.

The duo’s absence has exposed Barca’s lack of depth, with Xavi’s side failing to win their last three games.

That run includes the humiliating El Clasico defeat against Real Madrid in the semi-finals of Copa del Rey.

The draw against Getafe leaves Barca at the top of the La Liga table, 11 points ahead of Los Blancos.

They are back in action on Sunday, with third-placed Atletico Madrid scheduled to visit Camp Nou.
