Man Utd will keep Amad Diallo next season after impressive loan spell with Sunderland

Manchester United want to keep Amad Diallo for next season after an impressive loan spell in the Championship, according to Manchester Evening News.

The Red Devils are reportedly happy with his development at Sunderland. Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag will keep him with the first team next season.

Diallo had joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan at the beginning of the season. He has developed tremendously under Tony Mowbray.

The 20-year-old has bagged 12 goals and two assists in 33 Championship appearances. The former Atalanta man is up for Championship Young Player of the Year at the 2023 EFL Awards.

Diallo’s goals are helping his side push for promotion to the Premier League next season. His 12th goal was a winner against Birmingham City this weekend.

The Black Cats are ninth in the Championship but only two points away from sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers.

Diallo’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed at his parent club. He will likely provide competition for Antony on the right wing for the 2023/24 season.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho will compete on the left wing, with the club growing impatient with Jadon Sancho.

Ten Hag could have recalled the Ivory Coast international in January when Sancho was away from the team working on his fitness.

However, the 53-year-old decided against it and refused to cut his stay at Sunderland short. He said he did not want to hamper the development process.

After an uninspiring loan spell with Rangers last season, United will be happy to see the player finally impressing.

United will hope for the same result with Facundo Pellesti and Anthony Elanga if they head out on loan next season.
