Levi Colwill waiting for next Chelsea manager before deciding on future

Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill is likely to wait for the club to appoint their next manager before deciding his future, reports The Athletic.

The 20-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with Brighton & Hove Albion and has impressed.

Colwill signed a four-year deal with the Blues in 2021, with an option for another 12 months.

They want him to sign a long-term deal and held initial talks earlier this year.

Discussions will resume in the summer, but Colwill is expected to take his time before making a decision.

Liverpool and Manchester City are keeping tabs on the Chelsea man, and Brighton also want to sign him permanently.

The England under-21 international would love to return to his parent club.

However, Colwill has several players to challenge for regular playing opportunities.

Chelsea will appoint a permanent manager ahead of next season, and he could have other centre-back options and targets.

The Blues have no intention of selling or loaning Colwill out this summer.

However, they could be forced to if he does not agree to a new deal.

The Stamford Bridge club currently have Kalidou Koulibaly, Benoit Badiashile, Marc Cucurella, Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Cesar Azpilicueta as centre-back options.

They are 11th in the Premier League with seven games remaining and are unlikely to play in Europe next term.

Colwill could struggle to force his way into the first team if he returns.

Having established himself as a regular with the Seagulls after a tough start, remaining with the club could be the best option for his development.
