Erik ten Hag pleased with Man Utd’s solid performance in 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag said he was pleased with his side’s performance in their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest today.

United sealed a comprehensive victory over Forest to move back up to third in the Premier League above Newcastle United.

Goals from Antony and Diogo Dalot helped United cop with the absence of talisman Marcus Rashford.

Ten Hag said (via Man United’s official website): “I think it was a solid performance, and we did very well.

“We created a lot of chances with a lot of possession. Our formations and occupation were very good. We kept the ball and could have been better.

He criticised his side for giving the ball away and said they need to learn to keep it better, especially in big games.

Although he added that ‘all over, we controlled and dictated the game’.

The former Ajax manager had to make a change before the game started. Marcel Sabitzer pulled out of the warm-up with an injury, and he was replaced by Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen just returned from an injury lay-off, but Ten Hag had to risk him today.

The 53-year-old announced that Tyrell Malacia sustained an injury before the game.

Diogo Dalot played as a left-back today and performed well.

However, United’s injury list is building. They are now without Rashford, (Luke) Shaw, Sabitzer, Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

However, despite the injury concerns, Ten Hag urged his side to take things game by game.

They are trying to secure third in the Premier League and are still in the FA Cup and Europa League.

The manager said United would be going all out to win all their games on the run-in.
