Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has confirmed that star striker Victor Osimhen will be available for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie against AC Milan.
The Serie A leaders badly missed the Nigerian striker as Milan came out on top with a 1-0 victory in the first leg at the San Siro last night.
Osimhen’s absence was also reflected in the heavy defeat against Rosonneri in Serie A a few weeks ago.
Spalletti has offered the Patenopei a positive update to cheer about, stating that Osimhen will be 100% fit for the return leg at Diego Maradona Stadium next week.
“The chances that he will be available are 100 percent, because the work schedule was made in that direction,” Spalletti told Sky Sport Italia.
“He was rested today and in Saturday’s match to complete the work done by the doctors.”
Napoli had a great chance to open their account early in the game, but Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was denied by a great save from Mike Maignan.
Milan expertly used a counter-attack to take the lead through Ismael Bennacer and also put in a tremendous defensive shift to contain the visitors.
Napoli’s attack looked insipid without Osimhen and Giovanni Simeone.
Napoli’s momentum in the game was impacted by referee Istvan Kovacs’ controversial decisions.
Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa was sent off in the final quarter after receiving a red card, while Kim Min-jae’s booking will see him miss the second leg through suspension.
The Neapolitans will play Hellas Verona in Serie A this weekend before hosting Milan in the second leg next week.
