Bayern Munich ready to make shock bid for Harry Kane

Bayern Munich are reportedly willing to make a ‘persuasive’ offer to prise marquee striker Harry Kane away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to the Independent, the record-time German champions have spotted a window of opportunity to snap up the England captain and are ready to seize it.

While there’s a widely accepted opinion that Kane would prioritise shattering Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record in the Premier League, the Bavarians have other ideas.

New manager Thomas Tuchel will soon hold talks with the Allianz Arena powerbrokers to discuss signing a prolific goalscorer to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern have already earmarked around €100 million for a new frontman, with three potential candidates under consideration.

However, the opportunity to land a player of Kane’s calibre would probably make the Bundesliga powerhouse ignore other targets in the blink of an eye.

The 29-year-old is one of the most highly-esteemed strikers in Europe, with Manchester United keeping close tabs on him for years.

Tottenham bigwig Daniel Levy went above and beyond to fend off Kane’s suitors last year, yet he finds himself in a rough spot going into the summer transfer window.

Kane’s deal in north London runs out in 2024, and Spurs could risk losing their most prized asset as a free agent unless they convince him to commit to a new contract soon.
