Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford will miss his side’s next few games, the club announced today.
He suffered a muscle injury in the dying minutes of their last match against Everton.
Rashford will likely miss Manchester United’s upcoming fixtures against Sevilla, Nottingham Forest, Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the club insisted that he would return for the final stretch of the season. He is a crucial member of coach Erik ten Hag’s team, and they are desperate to have him back.
His absence is a massive disappointment for the club. He is their top scorer this season with 28 goals this season.
Rashford has broken his record for most goals in a season and can reach the revered 30-goal mark.
His goal contributions have fired United to fourth in the Premier League. They recently clinched the Carabao Cup, with the 25-year-old scoring in the final.
United remain in the FA Cup and Europa League. They know the Premier League is out of reach, but they are gunning for as many cups as possible.
Ten Hag said he expected the available players to step up and replace Rashford.
Anthony Martial’s recent return has boosted the club. The Frenchman netted the second goal against Everton on Sunday.
Martial has bagged seven goals this season despite suffering niggling injuries that have kept him out of action for long stretches.
United have Wout Weghorst on their books to deputise for Rashford.
The Dutchman has only scored twice in his 20 appearances, but he will have a role to play with the Englishman out of action.
Ten Hag challenged right-winger Antony to score more goals, saying he should look to improve in the final third. However, he praised the attacker for ‘killing defenders’.
