Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell set to sign new four-year contract

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell is set to sign a new four-year contract, reports The Athletic.

The England international is about to enter the last two years of his current deal.

Manchester City are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old and are keen on recruiting him.

However, Chelsea are set to tie him down to a deal until 2027, rewarding him for his consistent and top performances.

Chilwell joined the Blues from Leicester City in 2020 for £50 million.

He hit the ground running and helped them win the Champions League in 2021.

A serious knee injury and hamstring issue saw him miss a large chunk of 2022.

Chilwell has returned to action after the World Cup and has featured in all 12 games Chelsea have played across all competitions.

He has scored twice and assisted another two goals in 19 Premier League games this term.

The Stamford Bridge club have struggled in the league this term and are 11th in the table after 30 games.

Chilwell has arguably been their best player, and he deserves a new and improved deal.

He returned to international duty during the last break and will be eyeing a spot in next year’s European Championship.

Having missed the World Cup in Qatar, the Blues star will be hungry to make the next international tournament.

Major changes are expected at Chelsea during the summer.

A new permanent manager is expected to replace interim boss Frank Lampard.

New players will be signed and some will be allowed to leave.

New deals will also be handed out, and an announcement confirming Chilwell’s own is on the cards.
