Aaron Ramsdale stars for Arsenal in Liverpool draw

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale delivered a stand-out performance during the club’s 2-2 Premier League draw at Liverpool yesterday.

The Gunners made a dominant start at Anfield, racing into a 2-0 lead after goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus in the opening 30 minutes.

However, Mohamed Salah pulled one back for the Reds before the interval and missed a glorious chance to make it 2-2 from the penalty spot after the break.

Jurgen Klopp’s side continued their dominance in the second half and eventually grabbed the equaliser from a Roberto Firmino header in the 86th minute.

Things could have been much worse if not for Ramsdale’s world-class display.

The England international made two key saves to deny Darwin Nunez and Salah at 2-1. In stoppage time, Ramsdale replicated the feat with world-class stops.

The 24-year-old made a stunning save to deny Salah, whose effort was set to find the top left corner before a vital block from point-blank range in the final seconds.

There were no surprises that he was the man of the match. Aside from his four saves, Ramsdale had 39 touches and successfully completed eight long balls at Anfield.

His distribution was not as fluent as usual, but the England star helped Arsenal secure a vital point which could be hugely important in the title pursuit.

Arsenal are currently six points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the standings, having played a game more. The teams face each other at the Etihad Stadium later this month.

The match could decide the Gunners’ fate in the title race. For now, they have their destiny in their own hands and must carry on picking up points to pile the pressure.
