Paul Scholes praises Antony after his display in Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Everton

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes heaped praise on Antony after his impressive performance in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Everton.

The 23-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in the summer in a deal worth over £80 million. But he has struggled for consistency at United and faced criticism for his displays.

Scholes labelled him a ‘one-trick pony’ last year after his performance against Nicosia Omonia in the Europa League.

However, the former midfielder was impressed by Antony’s performance against relegation-threatened Everton.

He told BT Sport (via the Daily Mail): “That’s the best game I’ve seen Antony play for United.

“I thought he was a bit of a one-trick pony but he’s learnt to actually run through and he did that a couple of times today.”

Erik ten Hag’s men produced an impressive performance on Saturday, with the home success strengthening their grip on a top-four berth.

In a major boost for the Premier League giants, Christian Eriksen also received some valuable minutes at Old Trafford.

Eriksen hadn’t played a game since January after he sustained an ankle injury against Reading in the FA Cup. But he made his return to action late in the game.

However, the mood was dampened after Marcus Rashford was seen limping off the pitch before full-time.

Ten Hag later provided a worrying update about the forward’s injury, saying he doesn’t look good

His injury is a big blow for the Red Devils, who host Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie on Thursday.
