Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has delivered injury updates on some players ahead of their Premier League clash with Everton tomorrow.
The Dutch coach announced that midfielder Christian Eriksen is in the squad to face the Toffees.
Eriksen sustained an ankle injury in United’s FA Cup clash with Reading after Andy Carroll put in a dangerous tackle on him.
The 31-year-old has been out since then but returned to training this week. He was not fit enough to play in their last game against Brentford.
However, he is now ready to help his side push for a top-four Premier League finish.
It was not all good news for United as Ten Hag announced one of his key defenders is out of the game.
At his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag said (via Man Utd’s website): “Luke Shaw is not available for tomorrow, and we have to see how it progresses in the coming week.
“The good news is Christian Eriksen is back in training and will be back tomorrow in the squad.”
Ten Hag expressed delight at the return of the Danish creative midfielder. The former Ajax boss admitted he was angry with Carroll and feared Eriksen could be out for the season.
Eriken will be a welcome addition as United have two cup competitions to negotiate. They have a Europa League quarter-final tie against Sevilla and face Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup.
Ten Hag has been without Eriksen and Casemiro (suspension) over their last few games. They have struggled but managed to bounce back with a win against Brentford.
Ten Hag used a midfield of Marcel Sabitzer, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay against the Bees. He praised their performance as they won 1-0.
Shaw will be a massive miss for United as they approach the final games of the season. Ten Hag will likely go with Tyrell Malacia in his place.
