PSG approach Julian Nagelsmann for head coach role amid Chelsea interest

Paris Saint-Germain have approached Julian Nagelsmann to take over as head coach of the club, according to Abdellah Boulma.

Les Parisiens will dismiss Christophe Galtier at the end of the season. They want to find a successor to the French manager as they have been poor since the turn of the year.

PSG have now lost twice as many games in 2023 (eight) as in 2022 (four), and we are still in April.

They crashed out of the French Cup after falling to defeat against rivals Marseille before Bayern Munich dumped them out of the Champions League.

The Ligue 1 title looked in the bag, with PSG leading Marseille by ten points. However, they are now just six points ahead.

The club will sack Galtier if PSG lose the next two games. They are already planning a summer revolution with star players such as Neymar and Lionel Messi on their way out.

Several players at the club could leave as sporting director Luis Campos plans to reshape things.

PSG’s Qatari owners would love to make Zinedine Zidane their head coach, but he has never looked interested in the role.

Despite the France national team job now being out of reach until 2026, Zidane has not responded to PSG’s interest in hiring him.

The nine-time Ligue 1 champions have turned their attention to Nagelsmann. The 35-year-old recently left Bayern and is looking for a new job.

Chelsea are also pursuing the young German manager. The Blues recently dismissed Graham Potter and want to install another boss soon.

Nagelsmann and former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique are the leading candidates for the Chelsea job.

Chelsea are unsure about Nagelsmann, with owners Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly wary of his age.

This delay could allow PSG to pounce.
