Chelsea preparing mega bid for Rasmus Hojlund

Chelsea are the latest club to register interest in Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund who has caught the eye, having enjoyed an explosive breakout campaign.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are preparing a mega bid to lure the Danish striker to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Despite just arriving at the Gewiss Stadium last summer, Hojlund has taken the Italian top flight and all of Europe by storm with his impressive performances.

The 20-year-old has notched seven goals and three assists in 20 Serie A appearances, including another five in his first two starts for Denmark in the European Championship qualifiers.

Hojlund started Atalanta’s last outing against Cremonese on the bench but was instrumental to his side’s 3-1 success after assisting the second goal.

Several European heavyweights, including Bayern MunichReal MadridJuventusArsenal and Newcastle United, are already hot on his heels and ready to slug it out for his services this summer.

Chelsea have joined the chasing pack and are ready to break the bank with a massive €68 million bid for the youngster who cost the Italians €17m last summer.

The Blues are keen on signing a new striker this summer, especially with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the fringes at the club.

The Gabonese striker has fallen out with Chelsea and looks set to leave at the end of the season, with former club Barcelona keen on his services.

Atalanta are keen to keep Hojlund at the Gewiss Stadium to continue his development under Gian Piero Gasperini for at least one more campaign.

However, their resolve could loosen if they fail to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

La Dea are one of five clubs vying for a place in the top four. Gasperini’s side are in sixth place, just two points behind Inter Milan and AS Roma.
