Marco Asensio not interested in Barcelona move, wants to renew with Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio has never considered joining arch-rivals Barcelona, according to a report from COPE.

The Spaniard’s contract expires this summer, and there has been no significant development in the renewal talks.

Asensio’s situation has caught the attention of some of Europe’s top clubs, who are planning to sign him for free this summer.

Barca are also among the potential suitors as they have identified the Spanish winger as a cost-effective signing due to their financial crisis.

However, joining the Catalan giants is not on Asensio’s agenda, as he would prefer to renew his contract with Los Blancos.

Despite not being a first-choice for Carlo Ancelotti, the Spanish winger has proven to be an impactful player, netting five goals and an assist in the last eight games.

The former Real Mallorca star is holding out for around €5.5 million as wages for his new contract, while Madrid’s offer is slightly lower.

Los Blancos are not interested in parting ways with Asensio as they believe he can play a prominent role, with no major attacking reinforcements planned for the summer.

Asensio was reportedly a transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain in the winter transfer window, but the Spanish capital giants blocked the move.

Premier League giants Arsenal are monitoring the Spanish forward as they intend to invest in a back-up for Bukayo Saka.

AC Milan are also interested in Asensio, who they see as a marquee signing for the summer.

Getting a top-class player like Asensio on a free transfer would be a good move, but prising him away from Madrid may not be easy.
