Gary Neville has backed Mauricio Pochettino to be the next Chelsea manager.
The Blues parted company with Graham Potter on Sunday after they suffered a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa the previous day.
They have put Bruno Saltor in interim charge and are on the lookout for a new permanent manager.
Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has been linked with succeeding Potter.
The 35-year-old was sacked last month but is already on the radar of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Neville reckons Pochettino would be perfect for Chelsea and has urged them to appoint the Argentine.
“Based on what Todd Boehly has said, Chelsea have done their spending for the next three years – apart from signing a centre forward,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“If they appoint (Zinedine) Zidane, (Luis) Enrique or Diego Simeone, they’re going to want to have another £300 million as they won’t like some of the players they’ve previously signed.
“They’ve got to appoint a manager who is going to inherit and like the squad that they’ve got. – a lot of them are young – and I think that man is Mauricio Pochettino.”
Pochettino brings huge experience to the table having previously managed Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain.
He knows all about the Premier League and working with stars – skills which would come in handy.
Nagelsmann is also a brilliant option, but his age appeared to have worked against him at Bayern.
Chelsea already have reservations about that and should stay clear.
Their young squad needs a father figure in charge, and Pochettino would be perfect.
He brought out the best in the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son while at Tottenham.
Chelsea have a lot of youngsters in the first team and youth teams that could do with the type of tutelage Pochettino offers.
The Argentine is eager to return to work and prove himself again.
The Blues have struggled in recent months and cannot afford to get their next managerial appointment wrong.
