Borussia Dortmund reach agreement for free transfer of Ramy Bensebaini

Borussia Dortmund have sealed the agreement for the free transfer of Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Monchengladbach, reports Florian Plettenberg.

The Algerian’s current deal was due to expire this summer, and his future had been subject to speculation for months.

Despite courting interest from clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, the full-back will join Dortmund at the end of the season.

The 2019 African Cup of Nations winner has racked up 24 goals and seven assists in over 100 appearances for the Foals.

A top-quality full-back who is equally good at attacking and defending, Bensebaini will compete with Raphael Guerreiro for the left-back position at Signal Iduna Park.

The Portuguese international’s future has been hanging in the balance for a while, but recent reports suggest he is leaning towards staying with the German giants.

Die Borussen will continue their talks with Guerreiro to reach an agreement over a contract extension.

Bensebaini’s Bosman transfer is a great piece of business for Dortmund, but he will be a huge loss for Monchengladbach.

Striker Marcus Thuram will likely follow Bensebaini through the exit door after refusing to extend his contract beyond this summer.
