Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares kicked out of Marseille training

Marseille manager Igor Tudor kicked Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares out of training this week, according to L’Equipe.

The player returned to the dressing room after the manager sent him away for not showing the right attitude.

Tudor also singled out right-wing-back Jonathan Clauss for his performances during training.

The French international has struggled for form in the second half of the season despite an impressive start.

The Croatian manager spoke about how he handled training and revealed he sent Tavares away because he was not making the necessary effort.

Tudor did not name the player, but L’Equipe revealed it is the Portuguese wing-back.

The former Verona boss insisted that running was crucial in his football. Tudor stated that if he identified a player that was not running, he would give them some chances before intervening.

Tavares has generated mixed feelings since joining the Ligue 1 club last summer.

He has impressed with six goals while creating four big chances in 25 league appearances.

However, his erratic decision-making and inability to track runners behind his flank have been a feature of his game.

Les Olympiens will return Tavares to Arsenal this summer. They will not make a move to sign him permanently.

Arsenal must decide whether to sell Kieran Tierney or Tavares this summer.

The former has interest from Newcastle United, although they will be wary of his injury record.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back, and either Tavares or Tierney will be back-up next season.

Arsenal signed Tavares from Benfica for around £8 million in 2021. The player was still very raw when he moved to England.

He showed his talent in his debut Premier League campaign. Arsenal decided to send him out on loan to get game time.

However, he still has the same flaws, and the Gunners must decide whether to keep him around or cut their losses.
