Harry Kane targeting a century of goals for England

Gareth Southgate lauds Harry Kane on record breaking feat

England skipper Harry Kane is looking to rack up 100 international goals before the end of his career.

The forward recently became his country’s all-time leading goalscorer courtesy of his 54th strike, which came from the penalty spot in a Europan Championship qualifier against Italy on Thursday.

Kane followed up his record-breaking moment with yet another goal as England defeated Ukraine 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

With no more international duty to come until June, Kane has now outlined his target number of goals before calling it quits on his time with the Three Lions.

“Getting 100 will be tough for sure, but I never count out anything,” Kane was quoted saying by the Evening Standard.

“I am still young, I am 29, I am still fit and strong. I want to play for England for as long as I can.

“Every game there is I will be putting myself forward to try and play.

“We will take it step by step – the next step will be trying to get into the 60s.

“A hundred is not out of the question, it will be extremely tough but we will have to see how the next few years go.”

As he prepares to return to Tottenham Hotspur for the final stretch of the season, Kane’s future is once again up in the air with the 29-year-old approaching the final year of his current deal.

Manchester United have been linked with a summer move for Kane, while Bayern Munich retain an interest in the Spurs’ man, who is viewed as a suitable replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

However, Kane could very well opt to extend his time in north London and continue his love affair with the club for whom he has scored more goals than any other player in history.
