Speculation has been growing over the future of goalkeeper Andre Onana, who has been linked with an exit from Inter Milan in the summer.
The Nerazzurri are reportedly open to considering the sale of the Cameroonian goalkeeper to ease their financial difficulties.
According to a new report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Premier League giants Chelsea are keen on securing a deal for Onana, who is rated at around €40 million.
The Blues are in the market for a new goalkeeper, with Edouard Mendy appearing to be on his way out this summer.
The Senegalese keeper has lost his starting spot to Kepa Arizzabalaga and also has no intentions of extending his deal, with his current one expiring this summer.
The west Londoners would be happy to let go of Mendy and other unfavourable players to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions, especially after an unprecedented spending spree worth more than £400m since last summer.
Onana has been viewed as a great option to add more depth to the goalkeeping position and also potentially challenge Kepa for the starting role.
The Blues’ interest in the former Ajax star doesn’t come as a surprise, as he has been in sensational form for Inter this season.
Although the Nerazzurri have largely struggled, the 26-year-old has held his own and played a pivotal role in reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League, recording the most saves and clean sheets in the tournament.
Inter have also lined up a replacement in Empoli shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario if Onana departs in the summer.
Vicario has been one of the best keepers in Serie A this season, and Inter could face competition from Juventus and AS Roma for his services.
However, Onana is not considering an exit this summer, having settled in comfortably at Inter.
