Bayern Munich keeping tabs on Gavi amid contractual dispute

Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona midfielder Gavi, who is at risk of leaving the club in the summer due to a contractual dispute.

The Catalans tied the 18-year-old to a new contract last September but have been in a continuous battle with La Liga over his registration after being accused of breaching the league’s salary limit.

A new stumbling block emerged recently after the Spanish court suspended the Spaniard’s new deal in favour of La Liga.

Gavi will be able to leave for free in the summer if Barca fail to register him in the first team.

Bayern are among the clubs who have been alerted of the situation and are considering a future move, as reported by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

He claims Bayern’s interest is not advanced as they feel that there are too many players akin to his profile in their current squad.

They are set to complete a move for RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer, with Thomas Tuchel’s appointment as the new manager not hindering the deal.

Gavi has shone for Barca this season, having made 37 appearances in all competitions while helping his side sit at the top of La Liga.

The Spanish prodigy has also been in sublime form this season, producing a string of consistent displays.

The most standout performance was against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, where he scored a goal and provided two assists to inspire Barca to a thumping win.

Considered an indispensable asset for the future, Barca are working tirelessly to find a solution to reach La Liga’s salary limit, which will allow them to register Gavi.
