Barcelona directors meet to decide Ansu Fati’s future amid Premier League interest

Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany and sporting adviser Jordi Cryuff have met with Ansu Fati’s father to discuss the player’s future, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The meeting reportedly happened today at Ciutat Esportiva as they tried to sort out the young attacker’s future.

Fati has suffered several injuries since his emergence in the first team for the Catalans aged 17. The 20-year-old has been battling several injuries that have punctuated his development.

The Spanish international is currently fit, but the injuries have caused his form to deteriorate. He is now down the pecking order in his favoured left-wing position.

Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has used Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele ahead of Fati. The manager even used midfielder Gavi on the left wing, ahead of the attacker.

The 20-year-old could head out with game time hard to come by at his boyhood club. His father has met with the Barca directors to discuss his son’s future.

The player wants to succeed in Blaugrana, but he could leave with the recent turn of events. Barcelona also value him, giving him the number 10 after Lionel Messi left in 2021.

However, they are also considering a sale. He is a product of their La Masia academy, and they would pocket every penny of his transfer fee.

The player is on a high salary that the club would not mind shifting. Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes has already offered him to Premier League clubs.

Fati has a contract until 2027, meaning Barcelona can demand a massive sum for him. They will be hoping for a handsome reward with the club in a difficult financial situation they must resolve.
