Kim Min-jae reacts to transfer rumours linking him away from Napoli

South Korean defender Kim Min-Jae in action for Napoli

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae has claimed he is unperturbed by rumours of his potential exit from the club next summer.

Min-jae has been a standout performer this term for Napoli, who sit 19 points clear at the top of the Serie A standings after 27 matches.

They have also made it through to the last eight of the Champions League where they will take on fellow Italian outfit AC Milan.

Unsurprisingly, the 26-year-old is one of several first-team stars who have been linked with a move away from Napoli in the upcoming transfer window.

Premier League giants Manchester United have been credited with the most interest and while Napoli are reportedly open to selling the ex-Fenerbahce man, he is only focused on finishing the current campaign as strongly as possible.

“I can’t be bothered by transfer rumours because they are not true,” Min-jae said when quizzed about his future.

“Now I focus on the team rather than that kind of nonsense – many important matches are coming and right now I want to focus only on Napoli.

“The season is not over yet – we all have to still be vigilant – I have this kind of mentality for the championship.

“The idea is that you have to win every game and after earning as many points as possible we are going in the direction of aiming for the Champions League.”

Min-jae is currently away with the South Korean team and played the full 90 minutes yesterday when the Asian giants blew a two-goal lead in the second half of their friendly clash against Colombia.

The defender is also expected to be on international duty against Uruguay on Tuesday before returning to Naples for what will be an enthralling end to the season as Napoli continue their pursuit of success on the domestic and continental fronts.
