Recently-dismissed Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is on Real Madrid’s radar, according to The Athletic.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has a contract until 2024, but he may leave at the end of the season. Ancelotti is the top candidate for the vacant Brazil national team job.
Club chiefs are unhappy with his tactics this season. He has faced criticism for Madrid’s performances in big games against Barcelona this season.
Nagelsmann is now available for the job. The 35-year-old is still one of the most promising young managers around and Madrid do not like missing out on the best talents.
He leaves Bayern with his reputation intact despite his dismissal. He led the Bavarians to their tenth consecutive Bundesliga title in his first season.
Despite facing stern opposition for the Bundesliga title this season, Bayern had been top of the table for most of the campaign.
However, they lost their last game before the international break as Bayer Leverkusen beat them 2-1.
Die Rekordmeister dropped to second in the table, but they are only one point behind Borussia Dortmund with nine games left.
They have also reached the quarter-final of the Champions League, where they will face Manchester City.
Despite his shock dismissal, Nagelsmann will have plenty of suitors. Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are keeping an eye on his situation.
Madrid will also consider the former RB Leipzig boss to lead their team if Ancelotti leaves.
Other options for the La Liga champions include Xabi Alonso, Raul Gonzalez and Davide Ancelotti.
