Julian Nagelsmann open to Tottenham job following Bayern dismissal

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann is already considering new offers, with Tottenham Hotspur a major contender for his signature.

According to Sky Sports, he is open to taking the job. Spurs are interested in the 35-year-old as they prepare to dismiss Antonio Conte.

Tottenham are ready to end their relationship with Conte, who was asking to be sacked after his rant following his side’s 3-3 draw against Southampton.

The Italian manager threw his team and club bosses under the bus, questioning their mentality. Conte has gone on similar rants while at Chelsea and Juventus.

Tottenham must now decide whether to sack him during the international break or wait until the summer when his contract expires.

Nagelsmann is looking for a new project after Bayern sacked him abruptly. The Bundesliga club has hired Thomas Tuchel to replace him.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had Nagelsmann on his radar when he dismissed Mauricio Pochettino in 2019.

He also targeted him to replace Pochettino’s successor Jose Mourinho in 2021 before he joined the Bavarians. The German is now available, and Tottenham could move for him to replace Conte.

However, Nagelsmann wants a short period of reflection before making his next career move. He admitted in 2019 that he had been following Tottenham, tuning into Mourinho’s press conferences.

Levy will do his due diligence to find his side a new manager. Marco Silva, Roberto De Zerbi, Sergio Conceicao, Thomas Frank and Vincent Kompany are also on his list.

Despite their interest in Nagelsmann, Tottenham have not ruled out keeping Conte until the end of the season.

The former Inter Milan boss is in Italy recovering from his gallbladder operation and the club may allow him to see out his contract before hiring a new manager in the summer.
