Bayern Munich are reportedly on the verge of appointing Thomas Tuchel as their new manager after deciding to sack Julian Nagelsmann.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Tuchel has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2025.
It will be the German’s first job since he was sacked by Chelsea last year.
Fabrizio Romano, who broke the news first, has revealed that Tuchels’ name was on the wishlist of Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid until last night.
Tottenham had identified Tuchel as one of the leading candidates to take over from Antonio Conte.
His job is in jeopardy following his tirade at his players and the Spurs hierarchy after the draw against Southampton.
Ruben Amorim, Oliver Glasner, Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino are on the radar of the Lilywhites over the role.
Madrid had considered Tuchel a potential replacement for Caro Ancelotti if the Italian manager leaves this summer.
Ancelotti has been heavily linked with a move to the Brazilian national team over the vacant managerial position, and their players have been publicising their desire to work with him.
There were rumours that Tuchel may return to Paris Saint-Germain, who have reportedly decided to sack Christophe Galtier after the Champions League exit from the last-16 against Bayern.
Bayern have chosen Tuchel as the ideal manager after reportedly being impressed by his ideas. They believe the former Chelsea boss could help them recover from their brief rough patch in Bundesliga.
Tuchel’s first game in charge will be Der Klassiker against his former club Borussia Dortmund, who are at the top of the league table, a point ahead of Bayern.
