Barcelona ace Pedri to miss Copa del Rey semi-final second leg, Dembele a doubt

Barcelona will be without Pedri when they face Real Madrid in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie, reports ESPN.

The Spanish midfielder has been out of action since last month after injuring his hamstring against Manchester United in the first leg of the Europa League play-offs.

Pedri was tipped to return to action during last weekend’s La Liga game against Madrid.

However, the 20-year-old could not finish training on Friday due to discomfort.

He was tipped to miss Barcelona’s next two games, but he could miss more.

ESPN claim Pedri could miss the next three to four weeks, but there is no definitive timeline on when he is expected to return.

Barca also have fitness doubts about Ousmane Dembele, Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong.

The Frenchman has been out of action since injuring his thigh in January.

The Uruguayan and Dutchman were injured during the El Clasico and they pulled out of international duty with their countries.

However, they are expected to be available when Xavi’s side return to action on April 1.

Barca face Elche after the international break before the game against Madrid four days later.

They have extended their lead at the top of the La Liga table to 12 points.

Victory in the return leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Los Blancos will push them closer to a domestic double.

Pedri and Dembele could return before the end of April, and Xavi could do with them for the campaign run-in.

There are 12 league games left and a potential Cup final.

Despite their European struggle, winning La Liga and Copa del Rey will equate to a successful campaign for the Catalans.
