Tottenham approach Oliver Glasner to replace Antonio Conte

Tottenham Hotspur may have found their Antonio Conte replacement, with reports suggesting they are targeting Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner.

According to Bild, they have approached the Europa League winner over their soon-to-be vacant managerial role, with Conte on the verge of being sacked.

Tottenham are expected to part ways with the Italian tactician later this week following an explosive post-match rant where he lashed out at the club’s board and his players.

Conte may have managed his last game after his side were held to a 3-3 draw by relegation-threatened Southampton last time out.

The Lilywhites are contemplating whether to sack the Italian during the international break and could appoint former player Ryan Mason on an interim basis.

Spurs have several candidates lined up to replace the former Chelsea and Juventus boss, but Frankfurt manager Glasner looks to be the new leading candidate following his exploits in Germany.

The Austrian has been in charge of Die Adler since 2021, guiding the club to a mid-table finish while leading them to a Europa League triumph in his maiden campaign.

Frankfurt have built on their previous success this season and are firmly in the mix for a European finish as they sit six points behind fourth-placed Freiburg.

Following an impressive first season in charge, Frankfurt have moved to tie the manager to an improved contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2024.

However, Glasner is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal amid reports that Spurs are keen to bring him to north London next summer.

Former manager Mauricio Pochettino has also availed himself of a sensational Spurs return if Conte is relieved of his duties this week.

Mason, who could take up the role on an interim basis, succeeded Jose Mourinho in April 2021 and is set to do so again.

The Englishman would fancy his chances of helping Spurs retain their spot in the top four, although Newcastle United are not too far away.
