Tottenham boss Antonio Conte fuels Harry Kane exit talks

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has dropped a massive hint on Harry Kane’s future in north London.

As one of the most prolific scorers in modern Premier League history, the 29-year-old has attracted a host of suitors despite Spurs’ relentless effort to keep him.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy fought tooth and nail to block Kane’s exit, but it the Englishman’s future in the capital still hangs by a thread.

Asked to deliver his verdict on Kane’s long-term stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Conte highlighted the striker’s importance to the team yet shipped the ball to the club’s court.

“It’s on the player and the club, not on me,” he said, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano.

“I can tell you Harry is a really important player for this team, the most representative player.

“You know the importance that he has in this team. Decisions are up to them.”

While Tottenham recently initiated talks with Kane over a new deal, rumours linking the England skipper with a big-money switch to Manchester United continue to make the headlines.

The prospect of another trophyless season may deter Spurs’ all-time top-scorer from pledging his future to the club, enhancing the possibility of his move to Old Trafford.

However, Levy won’t go down without a fight. According to previous reports from Sky Sports, the Londoners’ chief is unwilling to let his headline performer leave in the summer.

It means Tottenham would rather lose Kane for free when his contract runs out in 2024 than sanction his move to Man Utd at the end of the current season.

The Red Devils could launch a summer offensive on the English superstar, especially if Spurs fail to secure Champions League qualification.
