Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic out injured for the rest of the season

Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has taken to social media to confirm that he will miss the rest of the season.

The Spaniard suffered an adductor injury in his thigh and was unavailable for last night’s 1-0 defeat at Real Madrid.

The Reds headed to the Santiago Bernabeu hoping to turn the tie around after losing 5-2 in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.

They were already without Jordan Henderson and Bajcetic has confirmed why he missed the game.

The 18-year-old has been the breakout star of Liverpool’s underwhelming campaign.

Bajcetic joined the Reds youth team from Celta Vigo in December 2020.

He made his debut in August 2022 and was swiftly rewarded with a new long-term deal in January.

Bajcetic has made 18 appearances across all competitions this term.

He started nine of Liverpool’s last 12 games and his injury is a big blow.

Jurgen Klopp is already without Thiago Alcantara, and another injury in midfield further depletes his ranks.

Liverpool are pushing for a top-four finish after struggling for consistency all season long.

They are sixth in the Premier League after 26 games, with six points between them and the last Champions League spot.

Injuries across all departments have not helped them this term.

That has contributed to a lack of squad depth at times, and the latest injury will further stretch the squad.

Fabinho, Harvey Elliott, Naby Keita and James Milner are their current options in the middle of the park.
