Paul Pogba set to miss another month of action

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba could spend the next month on the sidelines, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

He did not feature in his side’s game against Sampdoria yesterday because he suffered a muscle strain in training.

The French international has missed a chunk of the season due to injuries. Since he joined the club last summer, he only made his first competitive appearance last month.

Pogba made substitute appearances against Torino and AS Roma before head coach Massimiliano Allegri dropped him for their Europa League clash against Freiburg.

After turning up late for training the day before, the 29-year-old was not in the squad to face the Bundesliga club. He watched the game from the stands before posting a cryptic picture with the caption ‘reset’.

Pogba was supposed to return for the Sampdoria game to continue building his fitness. But he suffered a muscle strain and won’t be available for a while.

Pogba’s injury nightmare continues following his return to Italy. He has only played 35 minutes of football since returning to the Allianz Stadium.

The World Cup-winning star has barely got going despite being on one of the highest salaries in Serie A.

Pogba will miss crucial league games against Lazio and Inter Milan. He will also likely miss the first leg of the Bianconeri’s Coppa Italia game against the Nerazzurri.

Despite the absence of the former Manchester United man, Juventus sealed a 4-2 win over Sampdoria. Juventus took a two-goal lead through Gleison Bremer and Adrien Rabiot before the Genoa-based club equalised.

However, in-form Rabiot scored the winner before Matias Soule ensured the win with a dying-minute goal. It was another crucial three points for Juventus, who continue to climb despite adversities.

The Turin club is up to seventh on the Serie A table. They are now only nine points away from the top four despite receiving a 15-point deduction.
