Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised his players for their performance in Sunday’s convincing 3-0 win against Fulham.
Having watched Manchester City narrowly beat Crystal Palace 1-0 yesterday, Arsenal made the trip to Craven Cottage looking to restore their five-point gap at the top of the Premier League standings.
They made a fast start to the contest and thought they had opened the scoring 17 minutes in but Antonee Robinson’s own goal was chalked off due to offside in the build-up.
However, that turned out to be a sign of things to come as first-half goals from Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard saw Arsenal head into the break in cruise control.
With the job all but done at half-time, Arsenal took their foot off the gas a bit in the second period but managed to come away with a second consecutive away league clean sheet.
Speaking after the game, Gunners’ manager Mikel Arteta was full of praise for his side’s impressive display at both ends of the pitch.
“It’s a really tough place to come, they’re a really well-organised team and I think we dominated the game, we created lots of chances,” Arteta was quoted saying by football.london.
“We kept a clean sheet and we won the game in a convincing way so I’m very happy.
“It’s that love for defending that 11 players have to be committed to for 96 minutes.
“I saw that again today – it’s going to be crucial if we want to keep winning games.
Off the back of two matches away from home in the space of four days, Arsenal now prepare for the visit of Primeira Liga outfit Sporting Lisbon on Thursday in the second leg of their Europa League tie before playing host to Crystal Palace three days later.
