Tottenham Hotspur are considering whether sanctioning Richarlison would be appropriate, reports the Evening Standard.
The Brazil international forward was frustrated with manager Antonio Conte’s decision to start him on the bench against AC Milan.
Spurs crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday night after a goalless draw in the second leg of their round of 16 tie.
Richarlison came on for the last 20 minutes of the game but could not influence the outcome.
The 25-year-old started the league wins over West Ham United and Chelsea, but was missing from the starting XI of the last three games.
He went on a rant after the match, questioning the manager’s decision.
The outburst undermines Conte’s authority and it could now cost Richarlison.
Spurs could decide to fine him heavily, and the manager could opt against including him in his subsequent line-ups.
Richarlison’s frustration is understood, but publicly aiming a dig at his boss was wrong.
He has started 12 games across all competitions since he joined Tottenham from Everton last summer for £60 million.
His other 13 appearances have come from the substitutes’ bench.
Richarlison has scored two goals and claimed two assists this term.
Despite often playing as a striker for his country, he has had to play on the wings for Spurs.
Harry Kane continues to lead the line, while Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski are ahead of him in the pecking order.
Conte’s wing-back system also has not helped Richarlison’s cause.
Nevertheless, he has no excuse for granting an explosive interview and could now face the music.
