Lucas Moura to leave Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent next summer

Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura will leave the club when his contract expires next summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Moura has found game time hard to come by of late with Antonio Conte often opting to field one of Dejan Kulusevski or Richarlison in attack alongside the regular duo of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

The 30-year-old is without a start in the Premier League this term and has played just 96 minutes of action across eight matches overall.

Despite Moura’s deal expiring in June, his current employers do not plan to release him until a replacement is found. However, Spurs have also not shown any willingness to trigger their one-year extension clause for Moura.

Moura is free to negotiate with other teams from January 1, but the Brazilian is not yet thinking about his next move as he targets silverware in what is set to be his final season in North London.

“So my thought is to finish this season with Tottenham, try to win a title this season and sit down with my family and listen to the offers that will appear,” Moura told Flow Sports Club via Sports Witness.

“That’s when you analyse everything: country, club, the financial side.

“It’s analysing everything and then making the best decision – that’s my thought, but now I’m very calm there.

“If Tottenham want to renew, cool. It is a club I like a lot and I’m adapted.”

A return to boyhood club Sao Paulo has been mooted, but Moura’s time in England could be set to continue having recently been a subject of interest from several Premier League teams.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United were believed to have attempted to sign Moura last summer and could look to snap him up when he becomes a free agent in six months.
