Hemen Tseayo joins Tottenham Hotspur as strategic development director

Hemen Tseayo has joined Tottenham Hotspur as their strategic development director, reports The Athletic.

The former chief strategy officer of Manchester United left the Old Trafford club last May.

Tseayo spent a decade with the Red Devils and executed several refinancing transactions for them.

He helped list them on the New York Stock Exchange in 2012 and was key to the launching of their Women’s team in 2018.

Tseayo also worked as their director of corporate development and head of corporate finance.

He brings that expertise to Spurs and will oversee their data analysts team.

Tseayo will help the north London club improve their use of data to improve performance across the club.

While he will not be directly involved in Spurs’ football operations, he will help improve their fortunes and growth domestically and internationally.

Tseayo is the Managing Director at Calla Consulting and was vice president of UniCredit Group for two years.

Tottenham saw an increase in revenue from £361 million in 2020-21 to £443m last term.

However, they lost £61m before tax, and Tseayo’s experience could be useful.

He has a strong finance background and has spent over two decades in various finance, structuring, operational and business development roles.

Spurs still have no major sponsor for their new stadium after spending around £1 billion on its construction.

Tseayo would look to help them get the best deal as they sought a lucrative naming rights offer and improve their financial fortunes.

The Lilywhites currently have a net debt of £952m and will explore all avenues to increase their revenue this term and in the future.
