Liverpool registered their biggest win ever against Manchester United with an emphatic 7-0 success at Anfield on Sunday.
The visitors were the better side in the first half and Cody Gakpo’s goal two minutes before the break came against the run of play.
However, the second half was completely one-sided as the Reds destroyed their opponents with a breathtaking attacking display.
Gakpo scored his second after Darwin Nunez’s header diverted Harvey Elliott’s cross past the goalkeeper in the 47th minute.
The Uruguayan then bagged a double while Mohamed Salah also got his name on the scoresheet twice.
Roberto Firmino left the bench to make it 7-0 as Jurgen Klopp’s side recorded a historic win against United.
Below we look at some of Liverpool’s biggest victories against their bitter Manchester rivals in the Premier League.
Man United 1-4 Liverpool 4 – March 2009
This was one of the Reds’ most outstanding victories at Old Trafford. They fell behind early after Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the spot in the 23rd minute.
But Fernando Torres restored parity eight minutes later with a cool finish before Steven Gerrard added another just before the interval.
Fabio Aurelio and substitute Andrea Dossena also netted goals late in the game as Liverpool came away with a brilliant victory in Manchester.
Man United 0-3 Liverpool – March 2014
This was the time when the Reds were flying high in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers.

Steven Gerrard scored two penalty goals in each half to put his side in control of the match.
Luis Suarez added a late third as the visitors registered a superb 3-0 success.
Man Utd 0-5 Liverpool – October 2021
This was another humiliating result for United in their own backyard. Liverpool dominated proceedings from the start as Naby Keita netted the opener within the first five minutes.
Diogo Jota then slid in the second before Mohamed Salah thumped the ball into the roof of the net from Keita’s cross.
The Egyptian netted his second with a low effort just before the break to give his side a four-goal half-time lead.
Salah completed his treble early in the second half as Liverpool recorded an emphatic victory at Old Trafford.
Liverpool 4-0 Man Utd – April 2022
The 2021-22 season was hugely disappointing for United as they finished sixth in the Premier League.
One of their most embarrassing defeats during that campaign came at Anfield in April.
Liverpool made an impressive start to the game as Luis Diaz swept home Salah’s pass within the first five minutes.
The Egyptian got on the scoresheet after 22 minutes before Sadio Mane extended the scoreline with a brilliant finish.
Salah completed his double as the Reds condemned their rivals to a 4-0 defeat.
