Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting set to sign new Bayern Munich deal

Bayern Munich striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will sign a new contract, reports Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Cameroon international’s contract expires at the end of the season.

However, Choupo-Moting will pen a new one-year deal and remain with Bayern until 2024.

The 33-year-old will get a major pay rise and the Bundesliga club will make an official announcement soon.

The former Stoke City striker has been in red-hot form across all competitions this season.

Choupo-Moting has bagged 15 goals and two assists in 23 appearances. Only Jamal Musiala has scored more league goals than the Cameroonian for the Bundesliga leaders this term.

He has surpassed his goal tally for a single season since making his professional debut in 2007.

Choupo-Moting joined the Bavarians from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 on a free transfer after his contract expired.

He spent two years with PSG after his only season in the Premier League ended in relegation.

The former German youth international started his career with Hamburger SV II in the Regionalliga Nord.

Choupo-Moting has moved from the fourth tier of the German football league system to the Bundesliga. He has since featured for Nurnberg, Mainz 05 and Schalke 04.

The Hamburg-born forward has notched 20 goals in 72 international appearances.

Choupo-Moting has won two league titles, two German Super Cups and the FIFA Club World Cup since joining Bayern.

He has never won the Champions League and will hope to do so this term or next season.
