Arsenal are prepared to make a monstrous offer to sign Real Madrid target and Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer, according to La Repubblica.
Hojlund joined the Serie A outfit from Sturm Graz for €17 million last summer and he has been a key player for the club since the restart following the World Cup.
The 20-year-old was a regular off the bench during the first part of the campaign, but he has started every league game for Atalanta since the turn of the year.
The youngster has nine goal contributions from 21 games for Atalanta with six of those coming in 2023.
It is now reported by La Repubblica that the Gunners and Real Madrid are closely monitoring the striker and could make a ‘monstrous’ offer for his services.
No asking price is stated for the player, but a separate report from Calciomercato suggests that Atalanta won’t sell for less than €50 million.
Hojlund could be a future star
Atalanta have a brilliant scouting network and they have secured another bright talent in Hojlund, who has been in fantastic form after adapting to Serie A.
The Dane is regarded as the next big thing in his country, and there is no surprise that some of Europe’s elite clubs are monitoring him at the moment.
Arsenal and Madrid watched him in action against Lazio earlier this month where he was spectacular.
The youngster bagged the second goal in the 2-0 win, but also provided three key passes. Hojlund also managed six dribbles and won a stunning nine duels.
He almost produced a Puskas award contender with a stunning solo run only to be denied by the goalkeeper.
It was the perfect game to assess his potential and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners will make a huge outlay on his services this summer.
Arsenal already have two regular strikers in Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, while Folarin Balogun has been sensational on loan at Reims with 16 goals this season.
If they decide to sign Hojlund this summer, it could mean that either Nketiah or Balogun could be shown the exit door during the next transfer window.
