Real Madrid plot summer move for Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund

Real Madrid are eyeing up a potential summer move for Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund, according to Calciomercato.

The 20-year-old striker joined La Dea from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer and has taken the Italian top flight by storm.

Hojlund has netted six goals and provided two assists in 19 Serie A appearances this term, and his impressive displays have put the big spenders on red alert.

Atalanta, perhaps wary of the interest from several European clubs, have slapped a huge €50 million asking price on the youngster who cost them around €17m last summer.

Madrid could look to steal a march on any potential rival bidders with an early move for the Danish marksman, especially with Karim Benzema’s future up in the air.

The Frenchman is approaching the twilight of his career, and the Spanish and European champions have already begun planning for life without the 35-year-old.

Madrid are also eyeing a couple of other targets, including Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison.

The Spanish giants have already signed Endrick from Palmeiras, but the Brazilian wonderkid will only move to Santiago Bernabeu when he turns 18.

However, Hojlund has also appeared on Los Blancos’ shortlist, and the young prodigy could prove the next big thing in world football if he continues his development at the Gewiss Stadium.

Hojlund has scored in consecutive games for Atalanta, with his latest coming in the 2-1 defeat to mid-table team Lecce.

The former Copenhagen man will be instrumental in Atalanta’s top-four push this season, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s men sitting in sixth place, three points behind fourth-placed AC Milan.

However, Atalanta could struggle to keep hold of the talented striker beyond the summer, with several top clubs monitoring his development.

Serie A trio Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan are also reportedly interested in Hojlund, but Atalanta’s valuation could prove too expensive for the Italian giants.
