Arsenal and Tottenham want Montpellier striker Elye Wahi

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Montpellier striker Elye Wahi ahead of the summer, reports Telefoot.

The France under-21 international is also on the radar of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

Wahi has scored eight goals and claimed one assist in 21 Ligue 1 games this term.

The 21-year-old bagged 10 goals and two assists in 33 league games last term, and his consistency has attracted suitors.

Arsenal want to bolster their attack after injury to Gabriel Jesus exposed their lack of depth in the striking department.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has had to rely on only Eddie Nketiah in the absence of the Brazilian.

It has threatened to derail their campaign and signing Wahi would help improve their attacking ranks.

The Frenchman can also play on both wings, and his versatility is a huge quality to possess.

Spurs have one of the best strikers on the planet in their squad in Harry Kane. However, they could soon lose the England international.

Kane is entering the final 17 months of his contract and could leave for another club in pursuit of trophies, which have so far eluded him at Tottenham.

Spurs also need quality cover who can eventually succeed Kane in the long term. Wahi fits the bill and is full of huge potential.

The Lilywhites have had the youngster on their radar since he was 14 years old. Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Southampton were also interested in Wahi in 2017.

However, he remained in France and has developed into a fine player. He could finally be on his way to England in the coming months, and both Tottenham and Arsenal will hope to win the race.
