Barcelona keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram

Barcelona are monitoring the situation of Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, reports Sport.

The France international is out of contract at the end of the season and plenty of clubs want him.

Lilian Thuram dreams of seeing his son in the Barca colours, having played for the club in 2006.

The French forward is also on the radar of Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

Monchengladbach have given up on trying to convince Thuram to sign a new deal.

The 25-year-old is expected to leave in the summer after turning down a contract extension.

Barca would love to sign a quality player for free given their financial situation.

Thuram has bagged 13 goals and four assists in 19 games across all competitions this term.

He assisted two goals at the World Cup in Qatar despite making all five appearances off the bench.

The former Guingamp star bagged 21 goals and ten assists in his first three seasons with the Bundesliga club.

Barcelona have Robert Lewandowski as their first-choice striker, but they do not have natural cover.

Thuram would be a superb option for manager Xavi. He is also capable of playing on the wings.

Ansu Fati has been linked with a summer exit and Barca will need to bolster their ranks.

They lost Memphis Depay to Atletico last month, and their lack of quality depth in attack could be exposed.

Fati and Ferran Torres have struggled to produce the goods regularly this term.

Ousmane Dembele is currently injured, while Raphinha needs fierce and capable competition.
