AC Milan are interested in signing Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun during the summer transfer window, reports the Daily Mail.
The 21-year-old is the current highest goalscorer in the Ligue 1 having bagged 14 goals in 21 games.
Balogun is on a season-long loan at Reims, and his impressive form has attracted the Serie A club.
Marseille and La Liga club Villarreal are also keeping tabs on the Arsenal man ahead of the summer.
More clubs will emerge for Balogun’s services if he maintains his form till the end of the campaign.
Milan were keen to sign the Englishman when he was in the Gunners’ youth teams. The New York-born striker was very prolific at youth level, attracting Milan and other clubs as a result.
Not many youngsters can keep firing on all cylinders when they start playing first-team football, but Balogun has been different.
He scored three goals and made three assists in 18 Championship games during his loan spell at Middlesbrough last term.
Arsenal wanted his development to continue and sent him on loan to France.
Eddie Nketiah is proving to be a valuable cover in the absence of the injured Jesus Gabriel.
Both strikers are expected to keep fighting for the starting shirt going forward.
As a result, Balogun could struggle to displace them in manager Mikel Arteta’s pecking order if he returns.
Arsenal could be open to cashing out on him in the summer. He is out of contract in 2025 and the next transfer window is their best chance to get a premium fee for him.
