Glazers undecided over Man United sale as £8.3bn deal eyed

The Glazers are yet to decide whether to sell Manchester United outright or welcome partial investment, reports ESPN.

Designated financial advisors, The Raine Group, believe the club is currently worth around £6 billion.

However, some members of the Glazer family reckon Man United could be worth £8.3bn if their fortunes on the pitch keep improving.

The Red Devils have been in fine form under manager Erik ten Hag recently. They are fourth in the league table and could qualify for next season’s Champions League.

That would have a huge say on the club’s asking price if they opt to sell this season.

However, a sustained period of success on the pitch will see Man United’s value skyrocket.

As a result, Joel and Avram Glazer would love to retain control of the club going forward. Other family members believe now is the best time to cash in.

Another option on the table is to renovate Old Trafford or build a new stadium. That would be paid for by accepting an equity investment before selling the club for a higher price in the future.

The club had planned to invite formal bids from suitors this month, with plans for a takeover before the season ends.

They reportedly hope to get a deal done by the end of April, but that could change if the team continues to improve.

Man United face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final on February 26 and could win their first trophy since 2017.

They last won a Premier League title in 2013 and the Champions League in 2008.

The club face Barcelona in the knockout round play-offs of the Europa League on February 16 and February 23. They play West Ham United in the FA Cup fifth round on March 1.

The Red Devils could end the season with at least one piece of silverware. That could kickstart much-needed changes after several years of struggles.

The fans want the Glazers out, but nothing is guaranteed as the owners continue to weigh their options.
